Service Reflections (333, The Lord’s Prayer)

September 13, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Yining: I really enjoyed sermon because I think it’s quite some time since I’ve acknowledged God as my Father and I really love this verse on the price of power which says “I’ve loved you with n everlasting love.” And I also want to pray and use the Lord’s Prayer as my model and I want God to be honoured.

Eugene: This is not something new but presented in a really new light that I want to put into practise everyday!

Chengyu: Today’s service is good because it taught us how to pray in a better way. And when I pray like Jesus, I will be like Him. That really encourages me a lot!

Kianseng: It is very touching to know that God knows everything in our life and that He has left us with what we should pray for. It really made prayer a very clear thing and what we should be doing. I was touched by sermon as I sensed God’s love with Matthew 6:13. I think I have come to appreciate and be even more thankful for God’s love.

Kaisiang: Fresh insights. I learnt something that can be applied heavily and daily in my life. This sermon reminds me of God’s love and God’s desire and will for me to grow in Him.

Ella: I think this sermon has a really good follow-up on the previous one 333. I felt it was really amazing that we were following the prayer that Jesus made. And knowing this, now what’s left for me is to follow the Lord’s prayer daily. J Worship I felt was really really really cool! :D even though most of the songs were new to me but I fely it’s really quite good.

Esther: Wow the message was really awesome today! I’ve always wondered how the Lord’s prayer could be used in today’s context and wondered why was it the “say and go” kind of prayer which I didn’t comprehend but today’s sermon really gave me a new perspective about the Lord’s prayer which is really important for us to know since our Lord taught us how to pray specifically!

Gracia: I think it’s quite apt that today was talking about prayer. Because I need to revive my prayer life. Today’s sermon explained more about the Lord’s prayer and really showed us to understand prayer more.

Weilin: Service has been good. However, I don’t quite know how to apply it. Worship was taxing. I felt super crushed by something for some weird reason. I wanted to walk out.

Alexandra Nicolette Khoo Kim Hui: Today’s sermon was a great model on the ABCs of prayer. A -> tone of prayer. B -> Correcting priorities. C -> Dependence on God. Somehow, the lesson on surrendering to God and putting Him first can never get old.

Annabel: I didn’t exactly know how the Lord’s prayer can be applicable to our lives until today. The word of God is indeed true and living! I’ve heard this one too many times, but none of them made sense to me, until I recited it again to myself, did it make sense.

Karyn: awesome reminder of the necessity of prayer and what prayer encompasses. to pray and ask for more is a privilege that i must use! :D i was also reminded to keep in mind the names of God as i pray!

Eugene: To be able to go MT!

Chengyu: Study

Kianseng: Pray that my family can be saved. Pray I be faithful. Pray I do not worry for promos.

Kaisiang: Learn to be drawn to God. God to bring revival in AC. God to save my family. Promos -> 6As 1 full marks (math)

Esther: -Younger brother. For God to soften his heart and fan his desire to know more about Him. He was supposed to come today! –Jolene against the devil’s attack and for God to preserve the desire to know more about Him. That she will come next week, despite school reopening.

Alexandra Nicolette Khoo Kim Hui: I pray that I can discipline myself into praying according to this model daily. Uni preparation and tying up loose ends and other personal commitment drains my energy.

Karyn: for Genevieve and Liya to come to church and experience God and stay!

Annabel: MY PIANO EXAMS ON TUESDAY. I DON’T FEEL PREPARED AT ALL. L

Service Reflections (333, Part 1)

September 13, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Chengyu: The sermon gave me new insights about prayer. It is a call to God and that it makes it more personal and relationship-y! I’m also more convicted to pray more often now!

Yining: God spoke to me through P&W! I thought the phrase “God is our salvation” is so powerful and it encouraged me to want to give my all to Jesus. I thought sermon was really good because I think I lack a love relationship with Jesus and I should pray because it’s my passion to pray.

Kianseng: It was very good to hear today’s sermon as it thought me to have a much better relation with God, and to understand that God is always there for us. I am encouraged to know that God always answer us and how we can call upon Him in our need.

Eugene: In army if anything we aren’t sure, we immediately call our superiors for advice otherwise there issure to be trouble! So all the more I’m reminded to immediately call for God, my superior!

Kaisiang: Yes I feel pumped. To call God when I need to! 333! I will call on God in the worldly situations and circumstances especially so because it is an opportunity to share!

Wenning: What spoke to me most was about God’s power. God’s power can handle any difficulty and God can definitely do more than what I can imagine.

Ella (eh, eh, eh, eh): Today’s sermon was quite interesting and I think 333 is really a good way to remember the verse! I felt that it was important knowing why we should call on God when troubled. God’s power is really so amazing!

Jaclyn: I should count on God more by praying more as He’ll answer my prayers one day. Whatever change happens I know God’s there for me especially how during A level period. Ya so I’m trying to cling onto God.

Esther: Jeremiah 33:3 really showed me God’s desire for us to come to Him as the first person to go to when we are having trouble, when we’re desperate and the point that really refreshed me was that God guarantees that He will respond/help. J

Gracia: I think the part that spoke to me the most was the part about trusting God and believe Him when you pray to Him. To expect an answer to our prayers. It takes real trust, real faith – we should pray with faith and conviction. I fuess this is where a prayer buddy really helps.

Alexandra Nicolette Khoo Kim Hui: (Worship was amazing) I especially like that song… “No weapon formed against shall remain” etc. I have a reason to sing! I have a reason to worship! (Service) Many testimonies were given today and I was greatly encouraged. I’m reminded of how small I really am and how GREAT and AWESOME God is! It really speaks to my situation because I’m handling a project now that is so much bigger than me.

Eileen: I like the name of today’s sermon! 333! Good to remember!!! Haha. Must trust and seek/call God always. I’m doing so! So… YAY!

Annabel: The core verse in today’s sermon is stuck to my wall for close to 6 years now, plus it’s in King James version! “Call unto me and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not.” I got it from VBS (Vocational Bible School) that I attended when I was P5, I was still tiny then and I didn’t really get much of what the verse is saying, and today’s sermon exemplified the meaning of this verse in great detail. Now the verse on my wall carries so much more importance to me than before.

Karyn’s Service Feedback:
i love surrendering my life to God through prayer. bcos through prayer, i tell Him that He’s sovereign and that i am unable to live my life and be victorious alone. He needs to be the Lord of every area of my life. people think that its very difficult relying on God, but its actually the other way around. life is difficult when i don’t rely on God! i also love it that through my limitations, weaknesses and problems, God’s power is magnified in my life. i must receive His power! the analogy that sis wanping raised about what it means to pray (being pregnant) and giving up on prayer (having an abortion). it shows us how serious God takes prayer!

Service Reflections (Champion)

August 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Kaisiang: God spoke to me during Pnw, during sermon and during altar call. He told me that I’m ready, and now is the time. He told me to just go and do His work, His plan, His purpose for me. He made me to champion over defeats and bringing merry to Him.

Chengyu: I learnt how to be victorious! To go to the Holy Spirit first thing in the morning and look for Him for help! Then I will be a champion!

Yining: I think one of the things that really spoke to me was that the greater the call, the greater the training and that I really mustn’t give up on myself. I questions my hardships a lot and I need to embrace the imperfections around me like my family situations.

Eugene: I just feel very excited going on this adventure for God and with Him!

Wenning: Ps Ben was cool” God spoke to me about Goliath during the week and today He emphasised on it through Ps Ben’s sermon. What spoke to me the most was about champion is one that chooses to bounce back from defeat cos’ it is important to be determined to pick yourself up when you fall!

Jaclyn: Ps Benjamin’s testimonies are the ones that shook my mindset about staying faithful to God. “You don’t have to attend bible school for 4 years to learn how to walk with the Holy Spirit.” God never gives up on us, so that’s enough to keep my back on my feet.

Sufan: Wow… I didn’t even know living victoriously = not sinning and doing God’s commands! :D and yea, I’m a champion, made to excel!

Gracia: Today’s sermon was awesome. I think YI should become more used to saying “Yeah!” or “Amen!” more often to encourage the person speaking. Anyway, back to the sermon, it was great, and it was very encouraging. Pastor Benjamin spoke with much enthusiasm and passion, and he kept quoting the word of God which gave us verses that we meditate on during the week and more, and remind us of the lessons we learnt today. WE ARE CHAMPIONS, so we should start living like one.

Esther: Sermon was good. The point that caught me was that Saturday is not a day of restoration from the defeated days from Monday to Friday but it is a celebration of the past 5 victorious days instead.

Alexandra Nicolette Khoo Kim Hui: I had thought that there would be nothing new to learn; thus sermon sounded very similar to SWP’s one on wrestling. Then, the word of God gave me new insights: the rising above family situations, current circumstances part. It puts things into perspective to know that it’s part of God’s training for me.

Annabel: I really admire the zest and energy Ps Ben puts when preaching the sermon, it makes the living word even more living. We’ve all heard the phrase “more than conquerors” too many times, so much so that we tend to overlook the importance and the significance of it. And today’s sermon brought me back to my basics: leading a life that is more than a conqueror, together with God.

Karyn: i love pastor benjamin’s sermons! its so refreshing and impacting! the point i’m gonna take away is to know my source-wake up to the Holy Spirit everyday! the statement about us not being able to be victorious without the Holy Spirit stuck me. its as simple as that really, that without Him, we cannot succeed. i prophesy that Youth Impact will be Spirit-led! ALSO, that YI will just sit and listen to the person preaching and not keep their things during altar call! bcos hunger to hear God>need to keep their things! if we set an example, i really believe that they will follow and do it too!

Service Reflections (Change Your Tree And You Will Change The Fruit)

August 23, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Jaclyn: Man, I just learnt that prophesying is kinda difficult esp since one has to be deeply rooted in faith to declare the promises of God. It was good practice during small group though, but tongues shouldn’t be stopped cos 1 Cor 14:39 says “Be eager to prophesy and do no forbid speaking in tongues” (Something to note karyn :-D ) the Ezekiel example was very apt in demonstrating the importance of speaking out to the dry bones in our lives. Oh and the band was too loud during the ending part where we were prophesying during altar call I couldn’t even hear myself. =.= Today’s chapter in the Bible reading plan is also apt for reinforcing today’s sermon part, that tongues are a sign for unbelievers and not believers; while prophecy is for believers.

Kianseng: I felt today’s sermon was very useful as it helped me to be more focused in my praying and it helped alert me as to how I am praying. Now I would be more wary of the accuracy of words I use in prayers. I also felt that it was good that we must now be positive in our thinking and we can fulfil our dreams etc etc.

Chengyu: Before this sermon I thought to not say negative things is just to say more positive things. But it is more than that, it is prophesying using the words of God. It also convicted me more not to speak negatively because we are going to be judged!

Kaisiang: Service spoke something that I just started doing this week. I know that have the gift of prophesy and last week, I encouraged 2 friends. They even thanked God for having me speak life into them. It’s really cool when God uses dead failures in our lives to encourage others. God can be glorified through our weaknesses!

Yining: The sermon reminded me that I will be judged for the idle words I said and I thought this was a good warning. I think I got a better understanding of how prophecy and I will drop the negative attitude towards my study and start prophesying victory in my studies. One of the things I prophesised was holiness in my life.

Eugene: Prophecy must be from the word of God, divine inspiration, not anyhow prophecy and we’re in the end times, Jesus promised in the Bible we’ll prophesy so if we have the faith to receive this gift then only can we receive it! Prophecy solutions and the future, and not complain about what has already happened. Because God knows already. Question: Is it prophecy stated in Acts the spiritual charismatic gift of prophecy? And what is the distinction of the spiritual charismatic gift of prophecy?

Gracia: Prophesize good things I felt that today’s sermon was really apt in speaking to my current circumstances. I kept speaking down on myself this past week, but through this sermon, in addition to our thinking verse from the cell and through the book I’m reading, God’s telling me a very clear message to prophesize good things rather than the bad.

Ella: I thought this was really a good sermon because I always view prophesizing as amazing only when the prophecies come true. So learning that we can prophesy to encourage others was really new to me and I felt that was really cool. Also the part about our words can affect our dreams/talent/skills was really amazing. I felt this sermon really spoke to me to watch my words, especially when I’m the kind of person to speak before I think.

Esther: Service was awesome today! The last time we had this kind of mass prophesying as a congregation was YI camp and I remember it was really powerful tool. I think today’s service reminded me that I have power from God and backed with all of heaven’s resources to overcome the dry situations we are in or the likes, and this confidence comes when we start to prophesy.

Sufan: Sermon was very encouraging as it touched on reviving what has been left ‘dead’ in our lives. It also emphasized how God word want us to live our lives – faithfully and positively. Yay.

Eileen: God really speaks to me in this service! Don’t over depress as we can count on God and if we depress, it’ll actually kill our passion and what we can do. Live to the fullest as we’re child of God! Prophesize and believe and we’ll get there!

Annabel: I felt today’s sermon was really cool because I always have this preconceived mindset that prophecies are only meant to be made by prophets and very religious leaders. I’m thankful that my mindset is changed and I can prophesy over my life too, and I don’t have to be a prophet to do that.

Wenning: the part about Rick Warren’s allergy was encouraging and lead me to further understand that everything that i went through is to propel towards God’s destiny. hence i shouldn’t be discouraged about my dry bones, speak to them instead.

Karyn: i loved the part where swp mentioned about us thinking: if only….. it could have been…… it should have been…… why? bcos that’s what crosses my mind really often! speak when i see dead situations! announce the truth and believe in it. hear from God, stay connected to God, prophesy what God wants me to say. so powerful! i pray that i will carry this truth with me, embed it in my heart so that my mind will be renewed!

Service Reflection (SHAPE, what’s next?)

August 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Kianseng: I think today’s sermon was very inspiring as now we know how our SHAPE can be applied for God’s purpose. It taught me that God has given unto you everything for a reason, and we should make good use of it, that we can fulfil God’s purpose for His glory.

Kaisiang: I believe that God made me with a purpose, but He also make me __________, and when I _________, I sense His pleasure. When our S.H.A.P.E becomes aligned with our kingdom purpose, our natural best comes out. When God calls us to do something, we just need to do it. Don’t need to consider other factors. During service He gave me a vision. From something small like getting the class to pray before exams, to encouraging people to worship in spirit and in truth in chapel. I believe that God made me with a purpose, but He also made me influential, and when I preach, I feel His pleasure.

Yining: I think God placed this dream in me to be a missionary so that on the day when we are judged, God will get all the glory, for every conversion and all of us worshipping God and I want to know God more and love God more. I want Jesus to be precious to me and I want to be holy and be known by God.

Chengyu: I thought the sermon came very timely this week, it spoke to me and woke me up when BRX said “Are you living your dream or just living.” There’s so much to do when you dream because God is not limited and all we have to do is: dream.

Eugene: In today’s service I begin to pray life into my vision and made me look back at the dreams I dreamt with God that I’ve forgotten. I also prayed life into dreams that seem impossible on the surface. Such as my grandparents’ salvation and money to be able to study medicine abroad.

Gracia: It’s one thing to discover your SHAPE, it’s another to apply it and make use of it. Connect to God! Sometimes when we think about our SHAPE, we think about OUR spiritual gifts, OUR passion, OUR abilities, personalities and experiences. But it’s important to remember the 1st point which is to connect to GOD. It’s about God, not us. Let us be focused on His purpose!

Ella: I think today’s sermon was a good follow up of SHAPE. I felt that the hardest thing for me now is to find God’s purpose in my life and knowing my kingdom dream – because it’s always changing and I’m unsure of what is God’s, and truly His dream for me. That’s something I am to work on and something I’ve to keep seeking.

Esther: I enjoyed the sermon very much, thank you Brother Ri Xiang! J I thought the follow up after SHAPE series was good, after realising our SHAPE, essentially we got to continue staying connected to God, seeking God everyday, every moment, then He’ll reveal to us our kingdom dream that is aligned to our natural best, not something that is unfamiliar, foreign to us. J

Sufan: Sermon was not bad. :D hahahahaha.

Eileen: Today’s sermon was not bad… I know God will let us realise our dreams and He’ll guide us through discovering and fulfilling regardless how long it is.

Alexandra Nicolette Khoo Kim Hui: God made it clear today that He has been listening to my thoughts (the sermon series we’ve been targeted at answering my life-long question of what I’m doing here.) and gave me a reassurance that I will hear from Him. (“Picking up God’s call”) He is so wonderful! J

Jaclyn: Today’s sermon was cool, although I don’t exactly have a dream for God’s kingdom yet. I’ll just focus on what I can do now, which is to be the best student I can be. (Oh. On a side note the lights during praise and worship were a bit blinding today switch them off thanks. :D although we’re suppose to walk by faith and not by sight..)

Annabel: I thought what Brother Ri Xiang said about him making use of every opportunity touched and encouraged me. Like him choosing to make use of his break to take time to talk to God. I believe I have many forgotten dreams that I once had, I’m really excited about seeing them coming to past.

Karyn: the point about us connecting to God struck me a lot. God is always calling out to us, speaking to us and wanting to guide us. so i have to connect back to Him, i have to choose to ask Him about decisions, pray to Him, seek His will daily and not give up. God wants to speak to me so much! all i have to do is answer and obey!
